Common Threads

Children, Youth and Family Program

This program is offered to children and youth ages 6-17 and their families. It focuses on guiding the participants through the grief process and helps them to resolve events of the past while looking positively toward the future.

Grieving is a process that often involves the entire family. Families tend to grieve as a whole and can heal as a whole providing they have sound information and guidance. Children have a unique way of mirroring the progress (or lack of progress...) of their families through these difficult times. When the family is brought together in a supportive environment, bonding, love, and growth are maximized.

Death challenges us all to learn and grow closer together through our tears; it need not be an obstacle that prevents us from moving forward with life. This simple statement is the goal and focus of the children, youth and family bereavement group.

The Common Threads group meets weekly and is offered at no charge. It is recommended that children attend with a family member, adult friend, or guardian. A completed questionaire and authorization/consent form are required in order to attend. These are available upon request.
